March 18th: Can you dig it?

Bambi | Ode to Kingsway, daily drawings | Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

So, I went for a walk this afternoon during an unexpected sunny break, hoping to find an interesting building to draw as the next entry in my Kingsway series, but what caught my eye more than buildings were gaping holes and heavy machinery. Since the Illustration Friday theme this week is “heavy”, my subject for today seemed pretty obvious…

  1. I really admire this drawing. I enjoy drawing and looking at drawings of industrial stuff. Wish mine were this good.

  2. Love the sensitive linework. So much detail, captured so casually!! It’s inspiring.

  5. hey there! i was admiring this on the SFG site and realized it was posted by you! feels good to know such talent. how are things with the daily blog going? it’s so inspiring, i’m trying to muster up the energy to do something similar - this week i participated in IF, first time since august, so hopefully this will kickstart some personal progress.
hope things are well! i have some bambi cards on me at all times should a networking opportunity arise - maybe i’ll just start putting them in people’s billfolds at the end of their meals!

  8. The line quality is beautiful on this, gives such a cold piece of machinery so much character and life. Nice work!

  9. Great illo. I find it very appealing the way you colored it, especially leaving several parts uncolored. It gives the illustration it’s own atmosphere.

  11. Thanks everyone!

Shannon, hi! Thank you so much for being part of my guerilla marketing team! Great to hear you did IF this week, and I have to say, as crazy as it is, doing something each day is incredibly satisfying. I highly recommend trying it. I saw another website where the guy was doing something each weekday and taking weekends off, that would be a good way to go about it too. Why didn’t I think of that???!!?! Still, it’s great fun. Hope all is well in the big T.O., it must be a relief to be seeing signs of spring…
